Summary of Teaching Plan
The teaching plan entailed educating adolescents and adult males of the black community on the primary prevention techniques against HIV/AIDS infection. The black community targeted by this teaching plan were from the local community in Philadelphia Metropolitan area. One of the main reasons this population was targeted for teaching is that recent studies have indicated a significantly higher prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the black community compared to other ethnic and racial groups. According to a recent report by the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (2022), Black/African-Americans have the highest number of HIV diagnoses in the United States. The same report indicates that some social factors have played a critical role in the promotion of the prevalence of HIV among this select population. These social factors range from stigmatization, low education levels, high unemployment rates, homophobia, and a wide range of other healthcare barriers.
